The last firmware update I had on my Orbit Reader 20 Braille display was b0.00.00.69r18. Having seen version b0.00.00.69r22 on Orbit Research’s site, I decided to update. After the update I immediately noticed the display, when powered on, showed, not the file I had open last, but one I’d never opened, a file called Welcome g1.brf, signifying the grade 1 version. I wrote tech support and when the smoke cleared I’m now back to 69r18. My device now works as it used to.
iPhone support? Not so much. I still can’t use Bluetooth to connect between the display and the iPhone. I was told by tech support to try a different phone. It works for them. All well and good, but I have only the one iPhone, so I can’t do as they suggest.
In still another update, I never heard if the newer firmware has been updated again to address the issues I had. So, as far as I know, nothing has been updated or fixed.
And another update: They will update me when the bug in the new firmware is fixed.
Update: I got the display working with iOS 16 again. It does help to look at the manual, which I also updated while I was at it.
I’m feeling rather stupid, so I’ll go hide now, lol.
I have tried everything I could think of, and then some. I even did a factory reset on the display, all to no avail.
Have you tried restarting your phon?
