Fruit Ninja Ultimate (Windows)

I received this game yesterday from the same friend who gave me Subway Surfers. I’m sorry, this won’t be a very in-depth review but since I know a little more about it now, I’ll make a stab at writing it up.

There are four modes: Classic, Arcade, Time and Tournament. Classic has bombs and is very hard, at least for me. I’ve only played Arcade since then. In Arcade mode you’re given a target score to reach. The two games I played in that mode were 10,000 and 30,000 respectively.

There are some interesting things in the menu. One of which is Gifts. You can press enter on each to receive them. They don’t refresh so all you can do afterward is look at them.

Another interesting thing, sort of, is where you can equip various blades that you can unlock. Some are unlocked already and some require higher levels to unlock them. The musical blade is very noisy so you’re forewarned.

There are 2 mini games, Memory and Mama Eva’s Restaurant. After I played the latter I noticed the ambiance sounds from the restaurant was still playing. I think this is a bug. Closing and reopening the game stops it.

One of the gifts is a blade and it includes 8-bit music, which I turned off in options.

There’s a shop in which you can buy various items using star fruit, the game currency. So far I’ve only bought extra lives and XP packs.

I don’t think I’ll put up an audio of this as it’s hard to understand what is going on. No, I now have an audio of it, a game I played in Time mode. So I’m including it.

So, in game play, you aim with your left and right arrows as you hear various thumps coming from different places in the stereo field. You then hit the space bar to slice the fruit with whatever blade you’ve equipped beforehand. There’s a sound that tells you where you are in relation to the fruit. The default sword may already be equipped but I’m not sure about this. You can pause and unpause the game with escape. There are letter commands such as s, which gives you your score. Very useful in determining how close you are to the target score in Arcade. T will give you time left, useful, I can imagine, in Time mode. I now know that there’s a ticking sound when time is nearly up in that mode. L for level you’ve reached so far.

Languages available are only English and Portuegese Brazil. I have no idea if more translations will become available in a future update or updates.

Here are the stats from my second arcade game:

The read me is only somewhat helpful. There’s a short help tutorial, also of limited benefit.

Here’s a Dropbox link that I’ll only leave up for probably a week or so.
