Another German Book, Possibly

First off, Behind the Wheel, both 1 and 2 in Braille, are finally being proofread by a German speaker. Book 2 of the audio edition is corrupted and my library isn’t going to do anything about it.

The overseas librarian, or someone working closely with her, is trying to get another book imported into BARD. I don’t know how long this will take or even if it will happen.

  1. I see from looking at this blog entry and the comments I’ve made that I need to make a clarification. The book I have is in German ASCII and before NLS will put it on their list it will have to be converted to American ASCII.

  2. Another update, DZB gave NLS the audio files but in CDA format, so NLS can’t convert them without the physical CD, or more than one. DZB can’t ship the CD to NLS, so NLS is looking to purchase the CD parts of this book.

  3. Another update. I now have the six volumes of the book on my Braille display. it’s tough reading but there’s a symbols list so I’ll try to learn all that, what I can understand of it at any rate.

  4. An update to this is that Donna, the one with whom I’m regularly corresponding, is trying to get DZB, the German library, to share their copy, which is in ASCII Braille, with her. If that succeeds I’ll get that copy forwarded to me.

The import to BARD, if it happens, will take much longer. BARD wants the book in a format other than ASCII.
