It’s Time to Talk of Subway Surfers

Hi, faithful followers of my blog.

When a friend first told me of Subway Surfers and sent me a link to it, I didn’t know if I’d like it or not. When I started playing I was even more dubious. My reaction time was slow and I ended up crashing so often. Something, though, kept drawing me back to it and now I’m basically addicted!

Account setup is very easy and I publish to the leader board every time I crash. Sometimes it seems that the score is cumulative and sometimes not, but I still publish anyway.

The menu system is a bit complex but if you’re a curious person like I am, you’ll eventually figure out various things.

There are daily rewards to collect, a daily gift, a log-in reward, and then it’s good to get started surfing the subway.

There are three lanes, tracks, on which you run. You get call-out directions, jump, done with up arrow, roll, done with down arrow, left and right done with the appropriate arrows. Sometimes I survive by changing lanes when I’m told to roll or jump, and sometimes not of course. I tend to react faster in changing lanes but I know this is going to vary from player to player.

Now, during game play there are certain things you pick up along the way, mystery boxes, some of them empty, score multipliers, score bonuses, magnets, more on that later, and letters.

Each day there’s a word, sometimes the name of a character, sometimes a word like boost, magnet, dodge and others. They all relate to the game in some way or another. If you can play long enough you’ll eventually find the letters to that word. They appear in order and you don’t have to do anything with them. Once the word is complete it is added to your daily streak. At the time of this writing my streak for getting all the letters in the word is four.

There are seasonal things, which don’t refer to seasons of the calendar or anything, just seasons in the game. I’m kind of vague about when one starts and when one ends. There are seasonal tokens and I currently have forty-five out of forty-five.

There are various upgrades to items. All characters can be upgraded to level three once unlocked. If you’re just starting the game you only have Jake unlocked, but there are more characters to unlock and upgrade. I went a bit crazy one day when I realized I had a bunch of coins and unlocked all of them and leveled them all up.

Another set of items which can be upgraded, I just found out today, are super sneakers, jet pack, two times score multiplier and coin magnet.

There are also hoverboards that can be unlocked. One is already unlocked if you’re just beginning. The hoverboards have their own unique powers. I tend to stay with the faster speed one for some reason, but as you play and unlock these you may want to try out the different powers they have and see which you prefer. The boards only have the one level so they don’t have to be upgraded once they’re bought/unlocked.

One of my favorite things to run into is the jet pack, especially after I upgraded it to level five. I still need to upgrade the super sneakers and the two times multiplier. They are at level four as I write this.

There are two places in the game in which you can do all this upgrading and such, the me section and the shop.

A word, as promised, about the coin magnet. It pulls in coins from other lanes while it’s active. Naturally you’ll want to upgrade that puppy ASAP. Super sneakers help you jump over barriers, assuming your reaction time doesn’t royally suck like mine does, he-he. The two times multiplier stays active longer as it is upgraded, and so does the jet pack, which helps you stay above the fray longer as it’s upgraded. You still grab coins while it’s active but you don’t get anything else. You also can’t jump, roll or change lanes while it’s active.

There’s also a pogo stick which doesn’t seem to be upgradeable and you can’t jump or roll while it’s active, though the call-out sometimes says to do so while it’s active. I don’t know if that’s a feature or a bug, he-he.

At any rate, folks, I really love this game! I may make a recording of it and post it in a future update, or edit this one if possible and include it.

  1. Where can I get this? Also, I once heard someone play the mobile version of this and I don’t think it’s accessable, at least I’m not sure.

  2. Here’s some more game stuff. Each day there are two mission sets. One of them has sneakers for rewards and the other one I think only gives coins as a reward, but nothing wrong with that for sure.

There are bonuses for unlocking the characters and boards. I looked and saw I had all the collections completed. I thought so but I wasn’t sure.

  3. I can see I didn’t touch on everything, head starts for one. Those can be purchased in the shop or can be found on the track during game play. Hoverboards can be found on the track or purchased in the shop as well. There’s so much about this one that I really like. It’s hard to think of everything.
