It seems most folks in the blind community, or in this community at least, are rejoicing the demise of Skype, but I’m definitely not in that camp.
A distant cousin of mine told me about Skype, and I thought, nah, why Skype? For quite awhile I didn’t do anything about her recommendation but at some point, I cant remember exactly what year, I did download Skype and I have memories, yeah, both good and bad, where Skype is concerned. To throw all that away, I just can’t imagine how Microsoft is doing this. I can’t imagine how so many folks are happy about it.
When I reflect on how many people I met through Skype, how many long, lovely chats, both voice and text, I had there, I’m actually tearing up a bit. So, this is me, not rejoicing, not happy at all, that Skype is dying. Thanks, Microsoft, for taking over such a beautiful program and trashing it, all the way. You did a beautiful job, … not at all!

That’s all the memories I have with Skype. Talking to my cousins, Talking to some blind people on Youtube, and some youtubers.
And now Skype is gone I now have Discord so I could ease the pain for me not having Skype around.
Alex is gonna get in touch with Carrie once he has a chance so I could maybe talk to her once again because I lost friendships for like 6 years.

I met him on youTube because he subscribed to my channel during New Year’s Eve of 2017 and he asked me do I have Skype? And I said yes and then we talked every now and then. Not sure where he is now.
My brother used to be on Skype back in 2014. He used to talk to our cousins.
Also I used to talk to someone who is a gamer back on Skype in 2018, he’s from Canada and his name is Cayden.
For me I would have liked talking to Will on skype but it didn’t work because I wasn’t home from school yet.
We talked rather personal stuff sometimes. Other times it was just small talk. Our chats were few and far between.
Now these days I talk to my cousins in person or on the phone if they have time.
What did you talk to Ken about if you don’t mind?
I talked to some family members and a friend or two. One of those friends I met on this platform and his name is also Ken, or Kenneth.
Also I met a new person on Skype before skype is gone, his name is Ken.
Some people are unhappy that Skype is gone and others don’t mind it. I’m one that is unhappy that Skype is gone. And back then when Skype was around, who do you usually talk to? I’m just wondering. I used to talk to my cousin james and jason on skype and some friends from the blind community that I met from YouTube back in 2017 in july.

I can understand. As I said in the other skype poast, I’m sad that I didn’t get to useing it in 2021. I probably shoudhave given my rant in this one about skype, I’m sorry I didn’t. Good bye, skype! It’s sad that you are dead.
I haven’t used screen sharing in any program, not even in Zoom, so I wouldn’t know about that. It doesn’t surprise me that Teams is hard to use in that way.
Its even anoying to find the shair screen botton in a call.
I totally agree. Teams is a nightmare. I can’t even figure out how to add a contact that should’ve been there in the first place. There weren’t many things I couldn’t do in Skype, and plenty I can’t do in Teams.
Regarding accesibility, skype is very accesibil compaird to teams.

Unfortunately true. Just think though, if Microsoft hadn’t taken over Skype it’d still be going strong, most likely.
I can symperthise. I felt the same way about the old MSN messenger. I did use skype for a while in my early 20s. It was fun at that time. Easy to use. But things come and go, sadly. And times change.
I’ve switched to Teams.
Are you planning to export your Skype data? I’m planning to do mine soon and I’m planning to delete my Microsoft account. I’m not interested in teams yet.
I haven’t made or received any calls on Teams yet. I hope the call quality is good, not like Zoom, ugh! I’m still familiarizing myself with Teams’ interface.

I am not happy that Skype is gone. Be using Skype since 2013 when my cousin James set it up for me because I want it.
