Today, while I was updating Reaper to its latest version, I pondered in my mind, why do I do it? Why keep updating software I’ll never be able to use anywhere proficiently? At one point I was following someone on Twitter, now X, who said he could teach me some things, but that never came to fruition for various reasons.
I did give up on TeamTalk. I have no servers for it and don’t know any. I only downloaded that so I could get on the previously mentioned person’s server. After waiting and waiting, I realized that I’d never be able to hook up with him, so I came to my senses and deleted TeamTalk.
So, why haven’t I done this with Reaper? Why do I want to hang onto this software? Maybe I’ll find some use for it in the future? Maybe I’m a software pack rat?
Good on ya!
I use Reaper and it’s pretty good
‘Twas yesterday that a use for Reaper finally came along for me.
When I open MIDI files done on the PSR-3000 I use to have in QWS, I found that I can’t see the individual tracks. So, on a whim I opened Reaper and imported the file I wanted to edit. It gave me the option of all channels on a single track or each channel on a separate track. I chose the latter option, then exported the MIDI. Now when I open it in QWS I can make the edit or edits I want, however, Reaper changes the tempo of the file, which is very annoying. If anyone knows how I can avoid the tempo change I’d be eternally grateful!
Haha, maybe. If I uninstall, then I won’t have to update it. Knowing my luck, I’ll actually do the uninstall thang, then some use will crop up and I’ll wish I hadn’t. Then, it would be a huge deal to get Reaper back, plus the two extensions necessary for it.
I don’t know, sometimes it’s just not within our phrame of patience to uninstall programs and if we get bothered enough, we update so we live in peace
