The repair on the Stream, unfortunately, didn’t last very long at all. Now I have 2 buttons that don’t work at all and some more on the way out.
I’m too disgusted with the device to send it in for repair again, so I’m looking into buying the Orbit Player. From what I can see it has all the features I require, plus I finally found out that it’ll hold SD cards up to 2tb.
There was very little info about the Orbit Player on Orbit Research’s website, but I found some tutorials from them scattered around on YouTube.
It is very different from the Stream. It even has a replaceable battery.
I hope some things: 1, that it’s much more durable than the Stream 3, and 2, that I can find a seller here in Germany so that I won’t have to pay to get it out of customs.
No idea what causes them to fail.
I just wish there was a distributor for the Orbit Player here.
I’m not enjoying using my iPhone as a book reader but it’s what I have now.
Oh boy Maybe one of the buttons has gotten held down inside causing it to stop working when pressing the button.
Also, there’s no distributor in Germany that sells the Orbit Player.
Update: my Stream 3 is no longer usable at all. This morning when I tried to put it back to the file I use for sleeping, the book reader failed putting the Stream to the online bookshelf. Between the first entry in this post and now, the button for switching bookshelves stopped working, so now the Stream is stuck on the online bookshelf where I have nothing of use to me. I could sleep to the manual, but I doubt I’ll keep the device. It has become an expensive paperweight.
Orbit Player. Orbit Reader is a Braille display. They have 20 and 40 cell models.
I never heard of an Orbit Reader device before but I will look it up at some point maby.
The sleep/time button, originally the one repaired, doesn’t work and the confirm button also.
what buttons are not working? and i’m sorry to hear that. I never had a problem when borrowing a victor stream once.
